A great dinner and a few images that never made it to my zine Every Meal We Shared. Third last photo feat. my beautiful spotty spoon was printed and used as thank you postcards for anybody who kindly purchased my pink zine, and the second image was published in issue 01 of Isolation Zine.
Condiments
Earlier this year in August, Luisa at Somekind Press asked if I had any photos of condiments in my fridge, and who was I to say no to rearranging and showing off my vast selection?

Flaounes Day for Peddler Journal
I have some words and photos in the latest issue of Peddler Journal – my Cypriot family’s tradition of making flaounes. Buy it, read it, enjoy all things encased in dough with this incredible Dumpling issue I am very lucky to be part of.

Japan
I’ve been in Japan and am currently spending free time working on my next Holiday Notes book. In the meantime, here’s a handful of things that moved me while I was away.
Melbourne tourist
Anytime I'm in Melbourne I eat the precision crispy butter thing (the one on the right has apple pie in there) bestowed to me on the concrete monolith at Lune Croissanterie. The American Doughnut Kitchen van at Queen Victoria Market reminds me of being a kid, as does semolina porridge (thanks, Alimentari). Cake at Beatrix, Market Lane Coffee, another walk around the market – these are all good things to do in a whirlwind trip.

Kinkaku-ji
I told my husband if there’s one temple to see in Kyoto, it’s this one – Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion. The postcard of my dreams. The structure we see today is a reconstruction finished in 1955 after the original building, dating from the late 1300s, was burned down by a schizophrenic monk. The excessive gold in this design was utilised to relieve the area of any notion of death or negativity given its history of arson resulting in gaudy, golden, gilded reflection perfection.
Aria 20th Anniversary menu
The modern takes of classic Aria dishes by chef Joel Bickford to celebrate the restaurant’s 20th anniversary. I LOVE MINIMAL!

Doris Goddard
It's unavoidably selfish to only speak of someone's legacy from your tiny experience once they're no longer with us, but, Doris Goddard was very kind and patient when I was a newbie on the job. Sincere, hilarious and so wise. Outtakes from The Hollywood Hotel in 2013.
You can read all about Doris Goddard by Madeleine Watts on Broadsheet here.
